Emmarie recently graduated in 2022 from Acadia University in Nova Scotia where she completed her Honours in Kinesiology and was part of the Student Athletic Therapy Program. She has since returned to her home province and started her Masters in Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan, and has passed the national certification exam to become a Certified Athletic Therapist. At the U of S Emmarie is an active member of the College of Kinesiology Graduate Society as a first year representative and has recently taken on the role of engagement coordinator. Her research interests include concussion brain injuries, postural control, rehabilitation, and athletic therapy. Emmarie is part of the Sport Medicine and Science Council of Saskatchewan and works as a consultant. She loves to help out with medical coverage and is currently working with REX/MLS, Hilltops and Valkyries. Emmarie is very grateful for the ongoing mentorship from Michelle Keene.

Emmarie is the first MSc fellowship student funded by CSS and Mitacs, a federal government program promoting collaboration between institutions and industries through merit-based scholarships. Additionally, she has been awarded a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Graduate Scholarship for her masters research on concussions! Emmarie is excited about the opportunities to develop as both a clinician and as a researcher, and couldn’t imagine a better place than CSS to do that!

Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Emmarie actively engages with her community through volunteering with Student Wellness Initiative Towards Community Health. This organization supports disadvantaged community members by providing them with health care students, certified health care professionals and clinicians to provide support services they might otherwise not receive.
