Strength & Conditioning

What is strength & conditioning?

Strength and Conditioning is the development of proper movement mechanics, muscle mass, and agility with the goal of improving overall health and meeting individualized fitness goals. Whether you train with the goal of preventing osteoporosis or standing on an Olympic Podium, Craven SPORT services has a program to help you get there. The Craven SPORT services Training Centre is unique in that every client in the gym is working on a specialized and individualized program, under the constant supervision of our Strength and Conditioning coaches. Our state-of-the-art equipment, paired with an emphasis on perfecting the basics and preventing injury, creates an environment suited for all ages and stages of fitness.

The Craven Method of strength training is incorporated into all of our CSS Training Centre programming!

Frequently Asked Questions - S&C

Strength & Conditioning (S&C) focuses on improving overall fitness, strength, mobility, endurance, and performance — whether for sport, health, or daily life. At Craven SPORT Services, our programs are led by certified S&C Coaches who use evidence-based training methods to help clients move better, feel stronger, and build resilience through all stages of life.
Our S&C programs are designed for everyone — from beginners wanting to build foundational strength to competitive athletes looking to enhance performance. We also work with youth, older adults, and individuals recovering from injury or managing chronic conditions. Each program is tailored to your current ability, goals, and movement needs.
Craven SPORT Services offers a uniquely integrated approach. Our S&C Coaches work closely with our physiotherapists, chiropractors, and other clinicians to ensure safe, effective, and individualized training. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all workout plan, we focus on movement quality first, teaching proper technique and functional movement patterns that support lifelong health, performance, and injury prevention.
Your first session as part of our Intro Pack begins with a comprehensive movement and strength assessment. This allows your coach to understand your goals, movement patterns, and any limitations or previous injuries. From there, you’ll start learning foundational exercises and proper technique to build confidence and movement quality. The remainder of your Intro Pack sessions focus on developing your individualized training plan, which you can then carry forward into our Supervised Training program.
After your Intro Pack, you’ll transition into ongoing Supervised Training sessions. These allow you to continue progressing with the guidance of our coaches, who adjust your program regularly to match your development. Many clients stay in Supervised Training long-term as part of their ongoing fitness and health routine or transition to one-one-one training, small group training or another group training program like Fit 4 Life.
As a guideline, the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) recommends that adults perform muscle- and bone-strengthening activities at least two days per week, targeting the major muscle groups. Our Strength & Conditioning programs are designed specific to your goals, recovery needs, and schedule. Your coach will help determine the right frequency for you and adjust your plan over time as your strength and movement capacity improve.
Not at all! While we work with many athletes, our S&C programs are designed for anyone who wants to move and feel better — regardless of experience or fitness level. Whether you’re returning to activity, starting a new fitness routine, or looking to maintain strength as you age, we’ll meet you where you’re at.
Yes. Our integrated model ensures that training complements your rehabilitation and long-term health goals. If you’re working with a physiotherapist or other clinician at Craven, your S&C Coach will communicate with them directly to ensure your program safely supports your recovery and reduces the risk of re-injury.
